Company

Nov 11, 2024

At Datastory, we believe in the power of data to shape meaningful narratives and drive real change. In this Q&A, we sit down with our Marketing Specialist, Vicky, to discuss her unique journey to Datastory, her approach to connecting with diverse audiences, and the creative strategies she employs to make complex data relatable.

From Storytelling to Data-Driven Impact: Vicky’s Path to Datastory

Q: What inspired you to join Datastory, and how has your career path led you to become a Marketing Specialist here?

Vicky: With a background in journalism, psychology, and digital marketing, Datastory felt like the perfect intersection of everything I’m passionate about. It’s a place where I can bring storytelling, an understanding of human needs, and engaging digital content together. Datastory’s mission to make data accessible and to help people understand complex issues through clear, powerful visuals really spoke to me. I feel really lucky to be able to do work that’s meaningful.

Crafting Strategies for Datastory’s Diverse Audience

Q: What’s your approach to crafting marketing strategies that resonate with Datastory’s audience?

Vicky: Our audience is so diverse—from researchers and policymakers to NGOs and corporations—so my strategy is all about understanding their unique needs. I focus on making complex data feel approachable and relevant, ensuring that people can see the real-world impact of our tools. It’s all about making data relatable and accessible to help our audience connect with it on a deeper level.

Highlighting a Standout Project: Maktbarometern 2024

Q: Can you share a recent project you’re especially proud of and what made it successful?

Vicky: Not just because I’m in marketing, but Maktbarometern 2024 is a standout for me! This tool tracks and analyzes social media influence across Sweden, helping media outlets and civic organizations understand how digital power shapes public conversation. In today’s digital-first world, online influence is a powerful force, so I’m really proud of Datastory’s work in making these dynamics clearer and more accessible.

Tips for Aspiring Marketing Specialists in Tech and Data Visualization

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to succeed as a Marketing Specialist in the tech and data visualization industry?

Vicky: Be curious and adaptable! Tech changes fast, so staying on top of trends and new tools is key. And always keep your audience front and center—making complex data relatable and engaging is what makes your work truly impactful.

Finding Inspiration Outside of Work

Q: Outside of work, are there any hobbies or interests that inspire your creative side and influence your marketing approach?

Vicky: At Datastory, we often say, ‘Everyone has a desire to learn; we just need to find that spark.’ I love exploring new things, which always gives me fresh ideas. I’m also totally obsessed with sudoku. There’s something about finding clarity and patterns in complexity that feels so connected to data visualization—it keeps me creatively inspired!
