Go beyond the basics. See how your organization can contribute to, and benefit from, the open data movement.
Today, there are many open source options for publishing open data – from Data.world to CKAN, Entryscape and Zazuko. Some specialize in making it easy to discover datasets and APIs from multiple organizations, while other offer extensive functionality for improving the actual datasets, tapping into pre-existing taxonomies and ontologies. Some offer better integrations for national umbrella platforms and other to the UN, EU or OECD ecosystem.
To avoid the historical mistakes of establishing data portals with unclear purpose, we work together with our partners to deeply analyze their data.

We also offer a lightweight Open Data catalog that integrates well with our Datatstory Platform™ and Datastory Studio™ , allowing organizations to achieve user-friendly, public-facing applications with open data and visualization.
Seeking to share data with the world – and in response to criticism regarding Database Hugging Disorder – organizations and governments have historically reached for a remedy in the form of a "data portal". The website dataportals.org displays many, but not all, of these initiatives.
The intention is often great, but counting the cost, it is clear that investment into additional data portals – often with a general lack of user-friendliness, clarity and documentation – is rarely the solution to any real problem.
Fortunately, researchers have studied data portals and open data initiatives over many years, and we can now begin to distinguish what works from what doesn't.

We now also see more country-level standardization and leadership (such as dataportal.se in Sweden and data.gov in the US to name just a couple), which is critical for quality and trust in open data as a backbone for democracy and innovation.
